The herbarium intern will assist with all aspects of specimen management and curation of the Bowns Herbarium at SUU. It is intended to provide relevant work experience for students interested in botany, especially those with an emphasis on taxonomy and working with natural history collections.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage herbarium database, accurately entering specimen label data
  • Handle dried plant specimens, including mounting specimens on herbarium sheets and
  • Taking digital photos of specimens to be uploaded to the online database

Qualifications:

  • Have taken at least General Biology 2
  • Have an interest in plants
  • Have an interest in curation/specimen management
